Man Robs Nun, Earns Free Trip to Hell

A man has managed to take purse thievery to a new low.

A thief in San Fernando has managed to reach a new low, the Daily News reported:

In the parking lot of Food 4 Less in San Fernando last week, some lowlife stole the purse of a nun in full religious dress.

Sister Mary De Leon and another nun were putting groceries away in their car trunk when the guy approached them, saying he needed help for his sister's children.

Sister De Leon suggested he contact a local church nearby. The guy thanked her, grabbed her purse off the child seat of the shopping cart and ran to a waiting van.

Police say the thief then jumped into a Dodge Caravan and escaped.

"We all felt crime doesn't get much lower than stealing from a nun in full religious dress," Lt. Tony Ruelas told the Daily News.

Ruelas and his fellow officers chipped in to purchase De Leon a new purse and a gift card.
