Woman's Body Found in 50-Pound Drum

A Woman is Stabbed to Death at an Arleta Tattoo Parlor

LAPD and S.W.A.T. officers swarmed a home in Sylmar Thursday morning after getting a tip from a neighbor that a man had brought in a dead woman's body.

Detectives said they arrived to the home in the 14800 block of Colbalt Street and found a woman who had been stabbed and stuffed into a 50-pound drum.  A suspect was holed up in the attic leading to a standoff with police.

After about four hours, he surrendered.

During the course of the investigation, detectives said they believe the suspect stabbed his girlfriend to death at the Painful Pleasures Tattoo Parlor in Arleta, stuffed her lifeless body into the drum and then attempted to hide out in the home.

The woman's name has not been released pending notification of family members.
