Richard Nixon was famous for saying "I am not a crook," but there's one bandit out there who claims to prove otherwise.
The FBI is trying to identify an unusually calm armed robber dubbed the "Ex-President Bandit'' because he wore a mask of former President Richard Nixon when knocking over two Encino banks within one week.
The bandit is believed to be responsible for the robberies of a Santa Barbara Bank & Trust on Dec. 2 and a branch of U.S. Bank on Nov. 25, said Laura Eimiller of the FBI.
The bandit is described as a black man, wearing dark clothing and a Nixon mask, according to the FBI. During both robberies, the bandit was armed with a handgun, which he used when giving orders to victims, Eimiller said.
The bandit, while exhibiting violence, is described as having a calm demeanor.
No physical injuries were reported in the robberies.
In the 1991 movie "Point Break," a group of surfers known as "The Ex-Presidents" robs LA banks wearing similar presidential masks.
