RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- A 30-year-old parolee who was released from prison about a week ago and punched his mother in her arm during an alcohol-fueled argument in Riverside was in custody Wednesday on suspicion of battery -- a parole violation, police said.

The man, whose name was withheld, was arrested at an address in the 5400 block of Sunnyside Drive about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The man, on parole and prohibited from drinking, came over uninvited and intoxicated, police said. He had been released from prison about a week ago, police said.
