Police Arrest UCLA Groping Suspect

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a series of sexual assaults on the UCLA campus, it was reported.

UCLA Campus police say the suspect was arrested Monday night following seven sexual assaults of female students on or near the Westwood campus in the past month, according to KTLA

The arrest comes at the same time police released a sketch of the suspect.

One of the latest attacks occurred about 6 p.m. Wednesday, east of Westwood Village near a Ralphs grocery store, where the suspect tried to grope a young woman, UCLA police Sgt. Tim Nyx said.

The gropings date to March 8. Most of the attacks occurred between 3:30 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. along Westwood Plaza between Charles E. Young Drive South and just south of Le Conte Avenue, according to campus police.

All the victims told police the suspect was Hispanic, 40-60 years old, between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 6 inches and 150-180 pounds, with a dark complexion, brown eyes, and a pot belly.

The suspect wore "various hats," during the assaults, including a farmer's hat and a baseball-style cap.
