Toddler Killed by Brother in Tragic Gun Accident

A nine-year-old boy, who had been playing with a loaded handgun, shot and killed his two-year-old brother, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The LAPD were sent to an "ambulance shooting" at 5:50 p.m. Friday in the 16700 block of Parthenia Street in the North Hills. When they arrived they discovered the two-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper chest, an officer told the Los Angeles Times.

Paramedics took the toddler to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries shortly after he arrived.

KTLA reported that the older boy climbed into a closet and found the gun. It is not clear whether the gun was locked up or just hidden in the closet.

No charges are pending at this time, said police officials.
