The city of West Hollywood voted 3-2 Monday night for an ordinance that would prohibit smoking in outdoor dining spaces and other public areas.
The West Hollywood City Council made the vote around 10:30 p.m. in what's called a "first reading." The next and final vote (if it passes) will be on February 22, 2011.
Supporters of the new ordinance claim the new ordinance will improve quality of life for residents and visitors.
