2 Killed, 7 Wounded in Separate LA County Shootings

A man was killed and 3 others were wounded in a gang shooting. A woman was killed and four other people were wounded in other incidents.

Police were investigating separate shootings that left two people dead and wounded seven in incidents since Thursday across Los Angeles County.

A gang shooting outside the historic downtown L.A. Mayan club left one dead and three wounded early Saturday and police were searching for the killer.

Police were sent to the Mayan at 1038 S. Hill St. about 2:45 a.m. on a reported an argument outside the club.

Witnesses told police both sides shouted gang names, and a gunman got out of parked car opened fire.

A man shot in the head died, police said. Another man was shot in a leg, and two other people arrived at hospitals with minor wounds, police said.

None of the victims wanted to talk to police about what happened.

Police were looking for a man described as Latino, about 5 feet 7 inches and 180 pounds. He was dressed in a black shirt and blue jeans.

A woman in her 30s was fatally shot and her male companion was wounded after 10 p.m. Friday at a Hollywood Thai restaurant called the Pink Pepper, 1638 N. La Brea Ave.

The man underwent surgery for his wounds and was expected to live, police said.

Someone fired three shots, shattering patio glass.

Police initially said they were looking for two male suspects who fled in a black sedan but that has since been ruled out, police said.

Long Beach police were looking for two gunman who shot their neighbors during a Thursday night fight that boiled over from an ongoing dispute.

Officers were sent to an address in the 1100 block of East Plymouth Street about 11:20 p.m. Thursday on a report of shots fired and found the two victims - a 41-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man whose names police withheld.

The man was more seriously wounded, with multiple bullet wounds to the body, while his girlfriend was shot in the legs, police said.

Police searched an apartment in the complex but no immediate arrests were made.

Neighbors told the Press-Telegram the suspects are gang members who pick fights and bully people.

A man was shot in both legs in a drive-by attack on Friday in South Los Angeles.

The man was sitting on a porch in the 1100 block of East 46th Street about 11 p.m. Friday, when a gunman in a vehicle fired six shots toward him, police said.

The victim, believed to be in his 50s, was taken to a hospital, but his name and condition were unavailable.

The motive for the attack was unknown, although the area is known for drugs, police said.

Someone was shot in the head in Wilmington early Saturday, police said.

The shooting in 1100 block of King Avenue occurred about 4:40 a.m., police said.
