1 Man Wounded in Shooting at South LA McDonald's

The wounded man was shot in the leg, police said.

At least one man was wounded in a shooting Sunday evening at a McDonald's restaurant in South Los Angeles and the shooter who fled the restaurant was still at large, Los Angeles police said.

The shooting at the restaurant near the intersection of Manchester Boulevard and Normandie Avenue was reported at about 6:20 p.m., according to LAPD Officer Sal Ramirez.

Police made entry into the fast food restaurant but the gunman managed to get out before the entry and was still at large, Ramirez said. The victim, who was shot in a leg, was hospitalized.

After the shooting, police received multiple conflicting 911 calls and did not know who two men hiding in the restaurant were.

Police later learned the two men ran into the McDonald's to escape the gun fire that was aimed at them from a car driving by while they were riding their bikes past the fast food restaurant.

Traffic near the location was temporarily stopped on both Normandie and Manchester, Ramirez said.

What caused the shooting remains unknown, according to police.
