$100,000 Reward Offered for Information in Santa Ana Shooting

A $100,000 reward was being offered Thursday for information leading to the gunman who shot and wounded a marijuana dispensary owner last November, police said.

Derek Worden, 48, the co-owner of South Coast Safe Access in Santa Ana, said he was shot as he was leaving the business on Nov. 2 by an unknown man described by police as between 20 to 30 years old and between 5 foot 4 and 5 foot 6 with a thin build.

"I put the key in the ignition, then I heard four shots," he said.

The first shot grazed his shoulder. The second and third shots hit the headrest. The gunman fired the fourth shot as he was running away, said Worden.

"I was very, very, very lucky," said Worden, who spent 17 days in the ICU.

He said he lost his gall bladder and still has a .38 caliber bullet in his body.

Worden now goes through his day with an armed guard.
