118 Freeway Reopens After Six-Car Collision, Fuel Spill

A six-car crash on the 118 Freeway Monday morning temporarily shut down all eastbound lanes in the Porter Ranch area while the wreckage was cleared and a diesel fuel leak was cleaned up, authorities said.

The crash was reported at about 2 a.m. on the eastbound Ronald Reagan Freeway at Hayvenhurst Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At least six vehicles were involved and one male was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball. The vehicles included a tanker truck that sustained a fuel leak, Larry Redden of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The HOV and number 1 lanes were reopened about 3:30 a.m.
