Man, 12-Year-Old Arrested in Manhattan Beach Burglary

A 26-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy were arrested for allegedly trying to burglarize a Manhattan Beach home and investigators are looking into their possible involvement in other recent burglaries in the city, police said Tuesday.

On Monday, a resident in the 600 block of 31st Street reported hearing a noise and seeing a boy trying the handle of a door near the home's kitchen, Stephanie Martin of the Manhattan Beach Police Department said.

"Officers surrounded the location and discovered two subjects leaving the backyard," Martin said.

"When contacted, one subject was immediately taken into custody while the other fled toward the backyard. Although the subject attempted to jump a gate, he was also taken into custody.

One suspect was identified as Noe Maravilla Barocio of Los Angeles. The juvenile's name was not released because of his age.

Barocio was released from custody after posting $50,000 bail and is next due in court in Torrance on Wednesday, according to sheriff's online inmate records.

Detectives are investigating if the two were involved in an attempted break-in the same day in the 1700 block of Walnut Avenue, where residents heard a noise and while checking it out found damage to a door and saw two subjects running toward a white sedan, Martin said.

"This is the second reported case of a white sedan being seen in the area during a residential-related crime," she said.
