A man was shot and killed in a park near the ocean in Rancho Palos Verdes Friday night, said sheriff’s officials. The discovery was made at Abalone Cove Shoreline Park off the 5600 block of Palos Verdes Drive South.
“Shortly before 10 p.m. last night some hikers in the area discovered the body and called Lomita Sheriff’s deputies to the scene, said Lt. Dave Dolson, Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. “It appears a murder has taken place here,” said Lt. Dolson.
Homicide Detectives have learned that the 22-year-old victim was shot multiple times in the upper torso at the location, which is a series of hiking trails south of the roadway.
Investigators say the crime scene is a very close to the coastline.
“It looks like there’s some shrub brush, and maybe a hiking trial, and the ocean and water are about 100 yards away,” said Lt. Dolson.
