Riverside Dogs to Find New Homes in Canada

In Canada, small pets are in high demand

A large group of dogs, 45 to be exact, have airline tickets to the Edmonton Humane Society in Canada.

The Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center in Riverside received a call from the agency, requesting small dogs. Locally the agency had plenty of pets looking for new homes. What resulted was a plan to fly the pets to Canada this week.

The Inland Empire has been flooded with extra animals as a result of the ongoing housing crisis.

In Canada, small pets are in high demand at adoption centers. Finding homes for 45 pets at one time frees up a lot of room for more local pets in need of good homes. The mass adoption has been called the "Freedom Flight for Dogs."

The Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter, formerly known as the Riverside Humane Society.
