Fifteen suspected illegal immigrants were stranded for three days on an island about 19 miles off Ventura, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
One of the migrants used a cell phone to call 911 and tell authorities they had been left on Santa Cruz Island without food or water. A Coast Guard crew dispatched Friday found the migrants at about 5 p.m.
National Park Service spokeswoman Yvonne Menard said the migrants were on the north side of the island. A Coast Guard cutter took them to Santa Barbara for processing by federal immigration officials.
