15-Year-Old Boy With Autism Missing From Westmont Area Home Found

He was last seen around 11 p.m. Thursday when he went to bed at his Westmont area home.

UPDATE: The teen was found Wednesday, and was back at home, safe with his family.

A 15-year-old boy with autism who went missing in the Westmont area bordering South Los Angeles days before was safe with family Wednesday.

Jaylan Milek Lewis, who has been diagnosed with autism but is considered "high-functioning," was last seen about 11 p.m. Thursday when he went to bed at his home in the 1500 block of West 111th Place, near Normandie Avenue, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

His mother discovered he was missing the following morning, officials said.

"I just don't have any information. He's gone. He disappeared," his mother LaVerne Lewis told NBC4. 

He may have gone to the Westwood area "to meet with unknown associates," according to a sheriff's department bulletin.

He reportedly spent his days and nights riding buses on city streets and staying in shelters. He walked to his grandmother's house in Lynwood after seeing himself on TV.
