Hit-and-Run Crash Leaves 1500 Without Power in North Hollywood

The smash happened on the 7000 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard

More than 1500 customers have been left without power after a hit-and-run driver crashed into a hydrant and power lines in North Hollywood late Monday.

The smash happened on the  7000 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard at around 11 p.m, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said. The driver had fled the scene of the crash.

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power workers responded, shutting down the power to the poles so the water could be shut off. It was finally turned off at around 1 a.m.

In total 1518 customers are affected, and while LADWP estimated electricity would be restored at around 10 a.m, it was switched on at 6 a.m.
