2 Arrested, 3 Teenage Girls Rescued in Bust of Alleged Child Prostitution Ring

A multi-agency task force checking on convicted felons who are on probation have broken up a child prostitution ring operating out of a San Gabriel hotel.

Human-trafficking arrests of two men and a 17-year-old boy were made early Thursday afternoon at the New Century Inn in the 1100 block of East Las Tunas Drive, where authorities also rescued three girls between the ages of 14 and 17, San Gabriel police Lt. Rene Lopez said.

"Members of the task force contacted a male probationer at the location and later discovered that the male subject was part of a human trafficking ring that included the unlawful detention of three female juveniles," Lopez said.

The task force conducts periodic sweeps of convicted felons under the supervision of county probation under the terms of AB 109, he said.

The three girls were found in two different rooms at the motel, he said. James Thomas Gordley, 27, and Tyrone Douglas Stevenson, 18, were being held on $500,000 bail each. The 17-year-olds name was being withheld due to his age.

The sheriff's Human Trafficking Bureau has taken over the investigation, Lopez said. Authorities would not release the suspects' cities of residences.
