2 Injured After Asphalt Truck Explodes Near Commercial Building in Santa Fe Springs

Two people were injured after an asphalt tanker exploded near a commercial building in Santa Fe Springs Monday morning, officials said. 

The explosion was reported in the 13500 block of Orden Drive at 6:30 a.m., according to the Santa Fe Springs Fire Department. 

Two men were burned in the explosion and taken to a hospital. The extent of their injuries was unknown. 

The explosion was initially reported as a propane explosion. Fire officials said a truck carrying 4,000 gallons of asphalt exploded. 

No further details were immediately available.
