$20,000 Reward Offered in Pasadena Shooting Before It Becomes Cold Case

Several months after Robert Calderon was gunned down in Pasadena, a reward was being offered to hopefully generate tips.

"He really was on the right path to his success," said Sarah Mendoza-Jaime, Calderon's mother.

Calderon's mother and stepfather, Victor Jaime, returned to the spot where Calderon died on Mentor Avenue.

"I know my son died. I'm not sure why he died, he was very well loved," Mendoza-Jaime said.

Calderon was killed the week before Christmas after the 27-year-old man had spent the evening with his girlfriend Akeya Harmon.

It is believed Calderon got in a car to make a liquor store run, but in a dark residential street, there was gunfire. Calderon was later found on the lawn, and the car was gone. His family said they don't know who was driving the vehicle.

"I believe with the reward people will talk," Mendoza-Jaime said.

"If it's money that entices them, so be it. Just so we get some justice for Robert," Jaime said.

Calderon had received his degree from Pasadena City College and found love with Harmon.

"He was so much more than that and that's what I want people to know about my boyfriend, is that he is more than what happened to him," Harmon said.

The $20,000 reward was arranged through Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich's office.

Calderon's family hopes anyone with information about the shooting will call detectives in Pasadena.
