Sheriff's officials and family members on Wednesday renewed their public plea for information in the unsolved case of a father of two who was gunned down outside an Altadena hamburger stand.
On Oct. 30, 2014, Christopher Walker was sitting outside Fair Oaks Burger waiting for a food order he'd placed when a man approached and fatally shot him, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
His father Richard Walker, who works for NBC4, said his son's death was something he had feared ever since he got involved with street gangs.
"We never tried to hide the fact that he had issues with gangs, but when he moved away from LA County and moved to Arizona, he spent five years there and he realized the mistakes of his youth, and what he had done," Walker said. "He had actually turned his life around."
Walker had returned to Southern California to be closer to his family and friends prior to his killing, sheriff's officials said.
"Christopher, when he was a little boy, would sleep beside me on the floor because he wanted to be close," the victim's father said. "The gang involvement stole our son from us."
Investigators hope the promise of a $20,000 reward will lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Walker's killing.

Few new details were provided during a Wednesday morning news conference. Officials said the shooter was 18- to 24-year-old man with a medium build.
Family members shared how Christopher's boss said he was never late to work and was on track for a promotion.
"It's not only about our boy but it's about all the Christophers. And how many more must die before we stop and say enough is enough?" another family member said.
