Traffic Alert: 210 Freeway to be Shut Down in Both Directions

Update 3:30 p.m. Nov. 5: The westbound 210 Freeway will remain open tonight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. according to a Thursday statement from the Department of Transportation. Eastbound lanes will be affected by detours. The article below has been updated to reflect this.

The commutes Wednesday and Thursday will likely be affected in Pasadena, La Cañada Flintridge and Glendale due to the 210 Freeway closure, affecting both the east and westbound sides.

Drivers should plan ahead, anticipate delays and use alternate routes when available.

The 134 East Freeway meets the 210 Freeway in the affected area.

The 210 Freeway will be shut down in both directions beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, the State of California Department of Transportation said.

The closure will affect both the east and west sides from the Dunsmore Avenue undercrossing to the North Los Robles Avenue overcrossing.

The lanes will reopen the following day, Thursday, at 6 a.m., which may affect residents’ morning commute.

The eastbound will then again be shut down Thursday night at 7 p.m. and reopen Friday at 6 a.m.

Crews will be working to repave the lanes. It may be noisy and dusty, according to the State of California Department of Transportation.

Detours will be posted, directing drivers off of the freeway.

Westbound 210 Detour:

Drivers will take a detour getting off at the Fair Oaks Avenue off-ramp. Keep going north on Fair Oaks Avenue, then travel west on Mountain Street to take the westbound 210 on-ramp.

Eastbound 210 Detour:

Drivers will be forced to exit on the Colorado Boulevard off-ramp. Keep going east to Walnut Street, then travel on Corson Street to the eastbound 210 Freeway on-ramp.
