Close to a mile of the 215 Freeway near downtown San Bernardino will be completely shut down starting Friday night at 11 p.m. and reopen Monday morning at 6 a.m.

“Your best move is to go another way,” said Dr. Raymond W. Wolfe, executive director of San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG).

Detours include going around the freeway using the 210 to the east and the 15 to the west. Or, if you’re daring, just get on the 215 and follow the detours. But that’s not recommended.

“I have one piece of advice for motorists who still want to use the 2-15: Please don’t,” said Syed Raza, Caltrans interim director.

The closure has taken on a web presence using the hashtag #215BIGSHIFT to label traffic-related tweets accordingly.
