About 22,000 customers are in the dark in Riverside County after a power outage struck at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Power was restored at 5:07 p.m., officials with Southern California Edison said.

Southern California Edison customers are affected in the areas of Perris, Menifee, Canyon Lake, Sun City and Quail Valley, the private utility said.

Crews are currently working to restore power, and there was no estimated time that power will be restored.

Vandalism and copper theft were the causes of the outage, officials said.
