"It was an accident," said Andrea Thomas, a second cousin.

Everyone went running to the child. Neighbors came out of their houses.

The mother cradled her daughter and the driver disappeared up the road.

Witnesses had varying descriptions of the vehicle and police said they have partial license plate numbers.

Family members took Asianae to a hospital where she was listed in grave condition before dying Tuesday evening, a cousin told NBC4.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call Detective Peck at 909-384-5664.
