Just two days after the residents of Ventura County participated in the ShakeOut Drill, the state's earthquake preparedness activity, they were able to put into practice what they had learned as the county was jolted with a quake as many were heading to bed.
The preliminary magnitude of the quake was 3.3 and shook the Oxnard area as it struck at 9:53 p.m. Police reported that a number of calls came into the station from residents wondering if that shaky feeling they felt, was indeed a quake but no significant damage or injuries were reported.
