5 Hurt in Anaheim Drunk Driving Wreck

A juvenile driver of a sport utility vehicle is in custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run after hitting a car head-on while going the wrong way, said Sgt. Tim Schmidt of the Anaheim Police Department.

The collision in the 2800 block of West Lincoln Avenue occurred about 8:15 p.m., Schmidt said.

Five people were sent to hospitals with serious to major life threatening injuries, Schmidt reported.

The sport utility vehicle went out of control, crossed the medium of plants and trees, and hit a car driven by a nurse just leaving work. It took 35 minutes to free her from the vehicle, according to one report.

Lincoln is closed between Beach Boulevard and Dale Avenue, Schmidt added.
