$50,000 Reward Announced to Catch Hit-And-Run Driver Who Fatally Struck Woman

Barbara Jo Williams, 50, was killed April 3 when the driver of a newer model grey Chevy Equinox crashed into her.

A $50,000 reward was announced Wednesday by the Los Angeles Police Department for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a bride-to-be last year in Reseda.

"The sad part for me, it took so many years to find her," her fiance Ron Craig said. "It took us 40 years to find each other and it just clicked."

On the morning of April 3, 2014, Barbara Jo Williams, 50, was killed when the driver of a newer model grey Chevy Equinox crashed into her from behind. It was about 9:35 a.m. when the collision happened, she was retrieving items from her car in front of her house on Lull Street near Enfield Avenue.

The driver didn't stop, according to police. Instead, left Williams for dead.

"This could have been you and it could have been me," LAPD Detective Doug Larkin said. "We want to close this investigation, more importantly,  we want to solve this case for the family and friends here this morning so that they can have closure."

Standing by the LAPD Wednesday during the announcement was Craig and a large group of Williams' friends.

A friend told NBC4 that the driver would be forgiven but the person needed to owe up to what they did first.

Just days before her death, Williams received her wedding dress. The same unworn dress Craig would later painfully pack away. He said finding the driver would bring some closure for him.

The Los Angeles City Council, with the sponsorship of Councilman Bob Blumenfield, 3rd District, approved the substantial award, hoping to finally solve the year-old case.
