$50,000 Reward Offered in South LA Hit-and-Run That Killed Grandmother

A $50,000 reward was being offered in the unsolved hit-and-run death of a beloved grandmother in South Los Angeles last month.

On Oct. 10, 56-year-old Diane Dupree was crossing the street on Crenshaw Boulevard near 63rd Street about 9:40 p.m. when a driver struck her and didn't stop, Los Angeles Police Department detectives said. Dupree died at the scene.

A nearby surveillance camera captured grainy video showing the suspected car, pictured below, as a small to medium-sized Honda or Toyota from the 1980s to early 1990s, police said.

City leaders and police detectives announced the reward Wednesday during a press conference held at the crash site, hoping for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the driver.

"The motorist that's responsible for this had no regard for the safety or the life of another human being," LAPD Det. Jimmy Render said.
