A 61-year-old woman struck by a car driven by a fellow Leisure World resident has died from her injuries, Seal Beach police said.

The woman was struck while walking through a carport near Pelham Road and St. Andrew Drive about 6 p.m. Sunday and died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, said Seal Beach police Sgt. Philip Gonshak.

The 68-year-old driver was attempting to park the vehicle, Gonshak said.

The victim, whose name was withheld, suffered serious injuries to her head and chest area and was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, Gonshak said.

The driver was questioned, but there were no indications that drugs or alcohol played a role, Gonshak said.

"At this time, the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner's Department will be moving forward with a death investigation," Gonshak said. "At the time of this update, no criminal charges will be filed against the driver."
