‘7 Days of Freedom' at Best Friends=$7 Adoptions

The organization will look to make shelter space, and find cats and dogs home, over Fourth of July Week.

What to Know

  • July 1-7
  • $7 adoptions at Best Friends Animal Society in Mission Hills
  • $7 adoptions on select pets at NKLA in West LA

Making time to meet a four-footed sweetface is something many people regularly seek to do, whatever page on the calendar happens to be showing.

But when we flip the ol' time-tracker to July, we know what's soon to happen, within just a few days: Shelters experience an upsurge of shaken animals, due to the boom-boom entertainment of Independence Day.

That's why making room for incoming animals is so important for shelters, and that's why Best Friends Animal Society is holding a week-long promotion to help pups and cats find homes.

It's called "7 Days of Freedom," and it opens on July 1, 2019. And, for sure, you can adopt right through the Fourth of July, and after it, too, because the promotion will run through to July 7.

Keep all of those sevens in mind, for that's what your adoption fee will be: $7.

That is, of course, if you adopt a cat or dog at Best Friends; NKLA, a partner and friend to Best Friends, is also participating, but note that select pets, and not all pets, will be available for adoption under that low fee.

"We're doing this to help LA Animal Services create space for incoming pets," says a Best Friends representative. "Every time someone adopts from Best Friends, we go to the six city shelters and pull more pets."

And, you bet: "All pets are fixed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped," so you'll be starting out this new friendship with a lot of the must-dos already done.
