Authorities are investigating whether 800 birds found in a San Bernardino County home during a drug raid were connected to an illegal cockfighting ring.
Sheriff's department spokeswoman Cindy Beavers says the birds were discovered in the Phelan home during a search that resulted in the arrest of three men Thursday.
The birds were removed by animal control officers, the Victorville Daily Press reported.
Beavers says investigators are looking into whether the birds were pets or possibly connected to a nearby cockfighting ring that was busted last week.
Authorities also found 20 marijuana plants and an ounce of methamphetamine in the house.
