Details are emerging about the upcoming public memorial service for Michael Jackson.

The event will be held at the Staples Center and Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.

17,500 tickets will be made available. 11,000 tickets will be given for seats inside the Staples Center and the remaining will be for a live video simulcast in the adjoining Nokia theater.

Fans must go to StaplesCenter.com and enter their information by 6pm Saturday to enter a drawing for a chance to receive two tickets that will be randomly distributed by Ticket Master for both venues. Staples or LA Live will not directly hand out tickets and officials emphasize fans should not come there expecting them.

Announcements of a public memorial service have been plagued with false starts. There were first reports of an event at Neverland Ranch, Jackson's former home in Los Olivos in Santa Barbara County. That turned out to be a bust.

Then, quoting anonymous sources, the LA Times and other outlets reported Thursday that Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum was being considered for a memorial service. ABC News reported that Jackson's funeral would be held at the Coliseum on Tuesday. Then, the Coliseum is out.

And to top off the rumor mill, various speculations have been spreading throughout the Internet -- which isn't exactly the medium of good information (We're looking at you, Twitter).
