If you cast your gaze upward starting Saturday, chances are you'll be seeing a lot more than just blue skies.
The source of your aerial aberration? The second annual Breitling Huntington Beach Airshow, of course. This high-flying show will bring together aerial acts of all types that will leave you both awestruck and slack-jawed.
And you may be thinking, "What's so special about airplanes? I see them all the time." Ah, dear skeptic, these aren't the everyday planes flying over your house and waking you up from your nap.
No, this gathering of metal flyers will put on a whirling, flipping, zip-zooming spectacle worthy of a head tilt toward the sky (and a rousing from your slumber). It'll be a showcase of history and modernism, practicality and flashiness.
Want to know how air crews help people get rescued? The United States Coast Guard has a search and rescue demo showing you just that. Don't mind getting a little dizzy? Michael Wiskus will leave your head spinning with his whirls and loops on his Lucas Oil stunt plane.
But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The Black Daggers will parachute down from sky, the US Navy Blue Angels will synchronize aerial aerobics, the F-16 Fighting Falcon will demonstrate its amazing maneuverability and might. All those and more will be showcased.
And will the price soar as high as the aircraft? Absolutely not. This aerial showcase is absolutely free (unless you want upgraded seating).

The only thing you'll be paying for is food, drinks and souvenirs, and all those proceeds will go Aerospace Education Foundation of Huntington Beach, a local non-profit dedicated to "garnering a new interest in the aerospace field and empowering youth to pioneer the next generation of aviation."
The show will go on rain or shine, so if you're looking for a spectacle, and wanting to help a good cause, land your bottom along the beach north or south of the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort along Pacific Coast Highway.
The aircraft performances will start around noon and end around 4 p.m. and you can catch them both Saturday, Sept. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 1.
