‘Aladdin' Flies to an Updated ‘Fantasmic!'

The Disneyland spectacle will soon return with a freshly imagined scene featuring the beloved film.

What are you doing at Disneyland Park 'round about 6 or 7 in the evening?

You might be watching the street lights flicker on along Main Street, as time-honored a tradition as time-honored traditions come.

You could find a bench or an ideal spot at the Anaheim-based theme park to watch local, non-animatronic birds soar above The Jungle Cruise, as they always seem to do at twilight. Or you could be buying your first glow souvenir of the night, too, around that hour.

But if "Fantasmic!" happens to be running that night, over at the Rivers of America, you're likely scouting out your dream location, the place you'll plunk for the evening's iconic, on-the-water entertainment.

Entertainment that has been on hold since early 2016, when work began in earnest on the new "Star Wars" land (halting The Disneyland Railroad, and Rivers of America attractions, for over a year). But "Fantasmic!" is due to return over the summer of 2017 — date still TBD, so sprinkle some pixie dust and make a wish that it's soon — and the after-sundown extravaganza will sparkle with a few new additions.

Like? "Aladdin" will certainly be a buzzy update. The official Disney Parks Blog recently revealed that "...one of the dazzling new scenes finds Aladdin and Jasmine floating over a bed of fog on their flying carpet during 'A Whole New World.'"

But this sweet moment isn't the only fresh addition. Fans can count on "...new mist screens that will combine with innovative, state-of-the-art projection technology for brighter and more vibrant visuals than ever before."

There seems to be only one thing to say in response to that: "Some imagination, huh?"

Mickey Mouse's cheeky and oh-so-famous "Fantasmic!" catchphrase has been woven into the mythos of this on-hold, much-missed show, a show that's now had 25 years to captivate guests at the planet's most celebrated theme park.

That storied run will soon continue, in the summer of '17, with a handful of enchanted, tech-terrific tweaks and "Aladdin"-awesome additions.

Are you ready to find your water-close spot again, "Fantasmic!" fans?
