A suspected street racer was charged Tuesday in connection with a crash that killed a 35-year-old man in Hawthorne, and now a second driver is being sought, police said.
Officers responded to reports of a major traffic collision involving a Chevrolet Cobalt and a Honda CRV just before 1 p.m. Friday in the 13100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, according to the Hawthorne Police Department.
Alfredo Perez Davila, 23, was charged with one count each of murder and vehicular manslaughter. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
If convicted, Davila faces 15 years in state prison.
Davila, 23, was allegedly racing his Chevrolet Cobalt against a red Chevrolet Camaro northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard when he lost control, swerved across traffic lanes and slammed into the center median, according to Hawthorne police.
The impact caused the Cobalt to go airborne, eventually slamming into the Honda CRV driving southbound.
Video recovered from nearby businesses showed the Cobalt rolling completely over the top of the Honda before coming to rest in the street, police said.

The sole driver of the Honda, 36-year-old Benjamin Golbin, died at the scene.
Davila was treated at the scene and arrested on suspicion of murder, authorities said.
The second street racer driving a Chevrolet Camaro, who police said fled northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard, was being sought.
