Armed Standoff Comes to End at McDonald's Parking Lot in Carson

Employees from surrounding businesses, including the McDonald's, were evacuated.

A man described by authorities as suicidal was barricaded in a shuttle bus at a McDonald's parking lot Wednesday morning in Carson prompting a standoff with deputies before being taken into custody, according to authorities.

Sgt. Fred Binion, from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, said a man called the Carson Sheriff's Station at 5:20 a.m. and allegedly claimed to have a gun. The man also allegedly said he was going to shoot himself and deputies that came near him, Binion added.

The shuttle bus was parked at a McDonald's near the intersection of Carson Plaza Drive and Del Amo Boulevard.

Nearly three hours after the intitial call, the man was taken into custody without incident. 

Employees from surrounding businesses, including the McDonald's, were evacuated.

It was unclear what prompted the standoff. 

Authorities are on scene.
