2 Men Booked on Multiple Felonies After Police Shooting in Anaheim

A man wanted on suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a firearm was shot by an Anaheim police officer during a foot pursuit Tuesday night, authorities said.

Anaheim police responded to a report of an assault with a firearm before 6 p.m. Tuesday night in the 1800 block of West Neighbors Avenue, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

A man reported being taken against his will by a two men and a woman, who were armed with a gun, a knife and a club, police said.

Police attempted to stop a vehicle with two men, the driver not related to the assault incident, at approximately 10:35 p.m. A slow-speed pursuit ensued.

Officers halted the vehicle with a PIT maneuver at the intersection of West La Palma Avenue and Mohican Avenue, police said.

One of the men fled from the vehicle, and while police were chasing him on foot, an officer shot at him, authorities said.

Frank Velasquez, 25, of Anaheim and Alan-Osvaldo Reza-Palamino, 20, were booked for multiple felonies, police said.

Velasquez was booked at the Anaheim Detention Facility on suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and gang enhancements and was held on $500,000 bail, police said.

Reza-Palamino is in police custody at the hospital and will be booked for suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a firearm, possession of a concealed firearm by a gang member, and gang enhancements. His bail will also be $500,000, police said.

Police are still looking for the woman in the assault.
