Animal control officers uncovered a cruel scene at a Riverside County home when they responded to complaints from neighbors and discovered a host of severly neglected animals.

Officers, when they arrived at the home, took custody of two dozen animals including four emaciated horses. The officers also found three dead pigs, believed to have starved to death.

The animals and property are Wilson Rojas'.

Animal Services Department spokesman John Welsh says officers responded to complaints at the Woodcrest area home of Rojas and found eight horses, 10 live pigs and the three dead ones, three dogs, a goat, a chicken and a red-beaked parrot.

The officers intended to seize all 24 live animals but Rojas willingly signed over ownership.

Welsh says his department is asking the district attorney to prosecute Rojas for animal cruelty, but as of yet, Rojas has not been arrested.
