Rain is expected to slick roads and the red carpet today in a storm that snuck up on forecasters, meteorologists said.
The wet stuff fell consistently throughtout the day Saturday, though only Ventura County saw significant accumulation -- half an inch -- according to NBC4 meteorologist David Biggar.
Those conditions were not expected to change until later in the afternoon Sunday, as moisture continued moving up from Baja California, according to NBC4's forecast. But even as the bulk of the weather system looks set to shift to the Inland Empire at 3 p.m., showers are possible into the night in LA.
"We can't rule out maybe seeing a few stray showers right around the time of the Golden Globes," Biggar said.
Rain-slicked roads were implicated in wrecks around the area, including a collision in South LA that sent three people to the hospital.
Highs in and around Los Angeles were expected to top off at around 60 degrees Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday's rain came as a surprise to forecasters, with NWS meteorologist David Sweet saying "the models were all over the place, with some showing no rain and others saying a lot."

More than two inches of rain fell in some locations, as the Southland was surprised by a warm winter soaker that arrived early Saturday and decided to stay for the weekend.
The rain was expected to clear out of Southern California overnight, leaving a mild, mostly sunny week ahead.
