Anthony Michael Hall Pleads No Contest in Neighbor Scuffle

Anthony Michael Hall pleaded no contest Wednesday to a misdemeanor assault charge for pushing a neighbor, who fell and broke a wrist, during an argument in Playa del Rey a year ago.

Hall was immediately sentenced to 40 hours of community service and three years probation on his plea to one misdemeanor count of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. The 49-year-old actor was initially charged with a felony count of battery.

A lawsuit that Richard Samson filed against Hall in January is still pending. According to Samson's court papers, he was outside the common area of their condominium complex when Hall "assaulted, intimidated and battered" him on Sept. 13, 2016.

Hall -- a member of the "Brat Pack" in the 1980s -- has appeared in films including "Sixteen Candles," "The Breakfast Club" and "Weird Science."
