Garden Grove Subway Subject to Armed Robbery, May Be Connected to Other OC Robberies

Officials believe the same man who robbed the Garden Grove Subway is also responsible for three other robberies that occurred in the last eight days.

An armed man robbed an undisclosed amount of cash from a Garden Grove Subway restaurant Thursday night. Police say no one was hurt.

Shortly after 10 p.m., the armed man walked into the restaurant on the 1300 block of Harbor Boulevard and indicated to an employee that he had a firearm.

According to Garden Grove Police Department, he then demanded money and fled the scene on foot. The direction he fled to is unknown.

The man was described to be between the ages of 25 to 35, 6 feet 2 inches tall, had short hair and was wearing dark clothes.

Officials suspect this may be tied to a series of other robberies that have targeted fast food restaurants in the area. Four fast food eateries were subject to robberies in just the past eight days, and all happened within miles of each other. A Westminster Subway, Fountain Valley Subway and an Orange County Del Taco have all been targeted since July 12.

Police say in every case, no one was hurt.

Anyone with information regarding these robberies is encouraged to contact the Garden Grove Police Department at (714)741-5800.
