An armed robber held his handgun to the head of a store clerk during a crime recorded on security camera video.
It happened Tuesday morning around 3 a.m. at an AM-PM minimart at Alondra and Atlantic boulevards in Compton, authorities said.
At one point, the gunman threatened to shoot the clerk unless he quickly unlocked the cash registers. The gunman was accompanied by a female accomplice. They emptied two of the registers, and the gunman ripped out and carried away the entire drawer of the third. No shots were fired.
The video was posted on YouTube by a representative of the Compton AM-PM, but was removed Thursday.
A detective said he could not comment on the progress of identifying the culprits.
The AM-PM mart has an extensive network of several dozen security cameras, both inside and out.
Customers can see the output of several of the cameras on wide screen televisions suspended from the mart's ceiling.
