Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man who tried to abduct a 13-year-old girl in Venice and who may be responsible for another attempted kidnapping in Torrance.
The attack happened about 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 near Lincoln Boulevard and Milwood Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a new release this week.
A man driving a white four-door sedan pulled up along the teen and asked if she needed a ride, police said.
When the 13-year-old declined a lift, the attacker parked and ran up behind the victim, grabbing her arm and pulling her toward his car, police said.
The victim screamed and kicked the man, who released the teen’s arm, ran back into his car and drove south on Lincoln Boulevard. The girl ran away.
She described her attacker as a 35- to 40-year-old white male with brown hair and brown eyes, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds, police said.
A sketch of the attempted kidnapper was released this week in the hope that someone will recognize him and call police.
The composite drawing created after the Venice attack is “very similar” to a sketch of a man, pictured below, who tried to abduct a 16-year-old in Torrance -- 18 miles south of the latest attack -- on the morning of Oct. 16, police said.
That attack happened as the teen was walking to school near Artesia Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard, and involved a man driving a silver or gray Honda with four doors.
