Authorities Bust “Honey Oil” Lab in Riverside County

Officials found 3.18 ounces of methamphetamine, 26 pot plants, 3.3 pounds of processed marijuana and packaging material and 18 grams of concentrated cannabis on the property

Authorities in San Jacinto busted a “honey oil” lab on Thursday, seizing almost 30 marijuana plants and arresting a 48-year-old man.

James White was arrested and booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta after the lab was found by a team of San Jacinto special enforcement and Riverside County gang task force officials, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Office.

More than three ounces of methamphetamine, 26 pot plants, 3.3 pounds of processed marijuana and packaging material and 18 grams of concentrated cannabis -- known as “honey oil” -- were found and taken from the property.

Officials served a warrant to search the house on the 600 block of Washington Avenue in San Jacinto, where they found the “honey oil” lab, which are known to explode and pose a serious fire hazard.

The process to make concentrated cannabis requires the use of butane gas to turn marijuana into a honey-like substance that can be easily vaporized, officials said.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact Officer James King at the San Jacinto Station at 951-654-2702 regarding the ongoing investigation.
