The towing service received a call from someone who noticed the vehicle parked on Gladstone Street

The coroner on Wednesday night identified the body found in a car's trunk at tow yard in Azusa as 63-year-old Gloria Jean Darlend (pictured below).

The body was discovered at about 5 p.m. Tuesday after the driver responded to a call for service in the 3700  block of Fish Canyon Road. Authorities have not provided information on a cause of death.

The caller told the company the car was abandoned on the property, sheriff's investigators said.

"There was no foul smell or anything like that," said Lt. John Corina. "It's pretty recent. The car was just driven up there yesterday."

The caller noticed the Honda Accord parked on his property Tuesday morning in the 1000  block of West Gladstone Street, then called the towing service later that day, according to the sheriff's department.

The body was described as an "older female," according to employees at the towing service.

"As he was doing inventory, he discovered there was a body in the trunk," said Anthony Gonzales, a co-worker at Andies Super Tow. "He was pale. He was shocked. We're not used to seeing stuff like that."

A man who owns a business on the property where the vehicle was parked told NBC4 News that the victim was living in the car.

Anyone with  information about the case was asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at  323-890-5500.The body was transported to the coroner's office Wednesday morning.
