A 17-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded Wednesday in Baldwin Park, police said.
According to a preliminary investigation, the teen was walking in the area when a black, newer-model Honda car pulled up, and a man with a gun got out, Reynoso said.
The suspect shot the victim twice in the back, then got into the car and it sped off, driven by a female, Reynoso said. Another female also was in the car, he said. The gunman was described as Hispanic, in his 20s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, wearing a gray sweatshirt and black pants. Investigators were unsure of a motive for the crime.
The shooting occurred about 7:45 a.m. on Athol Street south of Fairgrove Avenue, said Baldwin Park police Lt. David Reynoso. No immediate arrests were made. The teen is expected to recover.
