Evacuations Lifted After Overnight Armed Standoff

About 50 residents were evacuated overnight due an hourslong armed standoff at a South Los Angeles home.

The standoff involving a man wanted for assault with a deadly weapon began late Monday and ended when he surrendered at about 5 a.m. The man brandished a shotgun at a neighbor before the barricade situation in the 6900 block of Estrella Avenue, police said.

About 50 nearby residents were evacuated overnight.

Capt. Marc Reina, of the Los Angeles Police Department, described the end of the standoff as a "peaceful surrender."
