Knife-Wielding Suspect Arrested After Barricading Self in Bathroom of WeHo Store

No hostages were taken, police said

An armed man who barricaded himself inside the bathroom of a high-end boutique in West Hollywood Thursday night was taken into custody early Friday morning, police said.

The hours-long standoff began after the suspect allegedly tried to rob a retired police officer at knifepoint shortly before 8 p.m. at a restaurant near Beverly Boulevard and Alden Drive near Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said Lt. Andy Neiman with LAPD.

The suspect was arrested at 1:30 a.m. Friday, police said.

The clothing store was evacuated and there were no hostages.

SWAT team negotiators worked to coax the suspect out of the restroom.

The situation closed down Beverly and Robertson boulevards for several hours Thursday night into Friday morning.
