A San Rafael man is accused of throwing a 2 year old boy from his moving car early Saturday morning in El Paso, Texas.  Alfonso Israel De Leon, 34 threw the boy from the car and then crashed into a guard rail.  De Leon was arrested and has been charged with injury to a child.

El Paso Police spokesman Darrel Petry said investigators believe De Leon was passing through El Paso on the way to California with two children, the boy and a 4 year old girl who was unharmed.  Police would not disclose the children's relationship to De Leon.

The boy, whose name is not being released, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.  His condition was unknown but he is expected to survive.

Police have determined through a preliminary investigation that the car was not moving at a high rate of speed.  Witnesses saw what turned out to be the 2 year old boy, along with other objects being thrown from the car.

De Leon was booked into the El Paso County Jail and remains there on a $100,000 bond.
